This department develops activities in the areas of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology; Plant Physiology; Plant and Yeast Biotechnology; Animal and Plant Ecology; Vertebrate Zoology. It offers undergraduate courses for programs in Agriculture, Forestry, Environmental Management, Food Science and Biological Sciences, the last one being coordinated by this department. Its faculty participates in a graduate programs in Plant Physiology and Biochemistry and also in the international program in Cellular and Molecular Plant Biology.
